Unit 4.5 - Cellular Manufacturing Becoming Agile

Cellular manufacturing is a product-oriented manufacturing layout. In a cellular layout, processes and machines required to manufacture a family of products are co-located to minimize travel time, facilitate improved communication, and improve product quality. The wastes and problems found in the process-oriented (traditional) layout can be resolved by changing to a product-oriented layout.

Unit 4.6 - Environmental Outlook - Becoming Lean and Clean

How would you like to reduce your waste, labor, time, and energy in producing your product? Have you ever looked at what it really costs you to pay someone to haul away your waste? Have you ever tried to reduce that cost? One way is to implement Lean and Clean Manufacturing. By looking at how you use your raw materials, how they travel, who does what and when, how much time do they take, Lean and Clean manufacturing can make your facility more efficient and more environmentally friendly. Lean and Clean seeks to minimize inputs and waste while maximizing product quantities.
