Susan Tully is the Director of Business Operations for the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) at UT-Arlington. TMAC is part of the national Manufacturing Extension Partnership, an initiative aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the U.S. manufacturing sector and retaining American jobs.
Susan has nearly 20 years’ experience in economic development in Texas. In 1988, she joined the Texas Department of Commerce. During her tenure with the agency and its successor, the Texas Department of Economic Development, she gained broad-based experience in research and planning, international trade, and manufacturing extension. Susan managed the State Data Center program and developed economic analyses, location studies, and policy papers as the agency’s senior economist. She also served as director of international trade, overseeing development of a trade plan that included missions to China, South America and Mexico as well as in-bound buyer events.
In 1998, Susan was named acting director of TMAC. When the program moved to the Texas Engineering Extension Service in 1999, she joined that agency as TMAC’s Director of Business Operations. Susan has continued in that position since UTA assumed management of TMAC at the end of 2004.
Susan’s previous professional experience includes three years in research and economic modeling with the Bureau of Business Research at the University of Texas and three years in municipal budgeting and finance with the City of Austin.
Susan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Dallas and a Master of Science degree in economics from Texas A&M University. She resides in Austin.
