Ruben Hernandez




Ruben Hernandez has over twenty two years experience in domestic and international operations management mostly in the medical device industry. His manufacturing experience includes working in Quality Assurance, warehouse and production and as project manager for several operation transfer projects.

Ruben joined Johnson & Johnson in El Paso Texas in 1983 and worked in Quality Assurance and Shipping and Receiving. Ruben was responsible for several process improvements that resulted in improved quality, reduced raw material inspection downtime and improved coordination of raw material shipments to Mexico plants.

Ruben joined Becton Dickinson Microbiology Systems in 1987 as a QA/Manufacturing Specialist at BDMS’s Juarez, Mexico plant and was rapidly promoted to El Paso Production Manager. During his career with BDMS, Ruben served as project manager transferring production processes to El Paso and later shutting down operations in Juarez/ElPaso and transferring them to various sites in the U.S. and Nogales, Mexico. During this period, Ruben also participated in and implemented several cost and effectiveness improvement projects in safety, ergonomic, hazardous waste control and lean manufacturing.

Since joining TMAC in June, 1999, Ruben has led, supported or assisted Quality Management Systems implementations at over 25 companies in a variety of industries throughout the Metroplex. He is also a Lean Manufacturing trainer.

Ruben received his BS in Biology (1981) and Master of Business Administration degree (1983) at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He became APICS certified in 1991 and Certified Quality Manager by ASQ in 2004. He has served as an examiner for the Texas Award for Performance Excellence (Baldridge based award) and as an examiner for the Shingo Prize. Additional studies include the J.M. Juran and Phil Crosby quality programs.
