Richard Bergs




Richard Bergs is a Research Engineer with the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC). His primary role is the acquisition, management, and performance of industrial research contracts, both with direct company sponsorship as well as through state and federal research funding agencies. While a recent addition to TMAC, he worked as a student on multiple TMAC projects.

Richard’s interests are in the area of dynamic systems and control, mechanical design, industrial automation, flexible assembly systems, PLCs, fluid power, haptic devices, autonomous vehicles, as well as surgical equipment ranging from simple support structures to surgical devices and surgical robotics.

Richard holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington (B.S., 2001) and a degree in Biomedical Engineering from a joint program between The University of Texas at Arlington and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (M.S., 2006). He has been a student member of UTA's Automation & Robotics Research Institute since 1999 and his past professional experience includes one year as a part-time computer technician with Best Buy.
