Tom Beard




Tom Beard has over 20 years’ experience in operations management and manufacturing. He joined TMAC in 1995. Since joining TMAC he has worked with over 30 companies on MRP II selection and implementation, waste elimination from manufacturing operations, ISO9000-2000 and ISO14001 implementations, plant layouts and utility studies.

In 1983 Tom joined Wor-Tex Corporation in Hillsboro, Texas. When he left in 1990, Tom was the General Manager. During his years there Tom oversaw growth that resulted in doubling company sales and profitability, resulting in the sale of the company to The Conair Group in 1989. From 1985 to 1989 Wor-Tex and Conair Wor-Tex grew from the third largest granulator manufacturer in the United States to the largest.

As the General Manager of Conair Wor-Tex, Tom was responsible for setting and meeting production schedules. He supervised the purchasing department, accounting department, data processing and production department. Tom assisted the sales department during customer visits to the facility for equipment demonstration. He acted as liaison for import and export shipments and had profit/loss responsibility.

In 1990 Tom joined General Dynamics Ft. Worth Division where he served in Program Management with the Industrial Modernization Incentives Program. During this period, Tom conceived and implemented several modernization projects that reduced cost and improved efficiency in some of the most sophisticated manufacturing facilities in the United States. These modernization efforts resulted in savings to the companies involved of over $10 million with an average pay back of two years.

In 1994, Tom became General Manager of MPG Service and Sales Inc. As General Manager Tom was responsible for all accounting and inventory, assisted with sales, sales proposals and the marketing of granulators to the plastics industry. He prepared business forecasts and business plans for presentation to lending institutions. Tom also had profit/loss responsibility.

Tom received his BS degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, is an ISO 14001 RAB Provisional Auditor and has served as a Texas Award for Performance Excellence Examiner since 2002.
