Richard Askew is a Demand-Driven Supply Chain Specialist at the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) of the University of Texas at Arlington. He has 20 years of business experience that spans business process improvement, supply chain management, information technology, market and risk analysis and business development functions. Richard has worked in the transportation, information technology services, high-tech manufacturing and management consulting industries, providing business process improvement and supply chain solutions with measurable financial results.
Prior to UTA, Richard was a principal with the Process Performance Group. In this role, he assisted high-tech manufactures and healthcare organizations with operational improvements by applying process improvement and service oriented architectures (SOAs) to coordinate extended enterprises of suppliers, contract manufacturers, OEMs and distributors.
Prior to the Process Performance Group, Richard was the Vice President of Value Chain Solutions at iXL Enterprises. In this role, he directed supply chain consulting engagements with iXL’s Fortune 1000 customers (including Compaq, DuPont, Delta Airlines, GE, Virgin Records and others). Projects included supply chain strategic planning; current and future-state material, work and information flow process mapping and analysis; multi-echelon/multi-tiered network analysis, data modeling and software solutions development. The Value Chain Solutions practice incorporated the Supply Chain Council’s SCOR framework and continuous process improvement principles in customer engagements.
In addition, Richard led North American logistics business development for Origin Technology in Business, a $1.4 billion subsidiary of Philips Electronics, Inc. and was an Industry Marketing Specialist and director of business process solutions in EDS’ Travel & Transportation Strategic Business Unit.
Richard has an MA in Philosophy from the University of Mississippi with post-graduate studies in Bayesian Decision Analysis at the University of Oxford, Oxford, England. He received a BA in History (with Economics) Mississippi State University. During his tenure with Philips Electronics, he attended Georgia Institute of Technology’s program in Global Logistics and facilitated process improvement workshops with the EDS Capture Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Richard is a member of the International Society of Six Sigma Professionals (ISSSP) and the Professional Risk Manager’s International Association (PRMIA) and is active in the Supply Chain Council (SCC).
